Objective

Sr. Manager, Information Systems
Genomic Health Inc. - Redwood City, CA (February 2002-Present) - Genomic Health provides personalized genomic diagnostic testing to assist in cancer treatment decisions.

Worked independently to build infrastructure and provide support to startup organization, then hired and managed a team of support and systems engineers as corporate growth required. Grew systems infrastructure from supporting 40 person research environment to 500 persons in a complex regulated environment.

Key duties and accomplishments:

  • Managed and developed company's highly available computing infrastructure and desktop support services.
  • Provided technical vision and leadership to computing systems development.
  • Defined and implemented standard processes for design planning, maintenance, and support of IT systems.
  • Built and managed team of 15 Systems and Support engineers with department budget of $5M.
  • Managed vendor relationships for purchasing and support of equipment and systems.

  • Developed and managed environment based primarily on Windows Server, Active directory, and Windows Professional clients.

Consumer Review - Sunnyvale, CA (September 1999-June 2001) - Consumer Review develops and manages product based web communities.

  • Built and operated technical infrastructure in both co-location production data center and corporate offices. Systems included Windows 2000 server and professional on Dell and Compaq hardware, IIS web servers, SQL server databases, Microsoft Active Directory, Cisco switches/routers/firewalls, Alteon load balancing web switches, and various enterprise support systems.
  • Developed and documented all procedures and standards relating to the building, maintenance, monitoring, support, repairing, disaster recovery, and use of technical infrastructure.
  • Hired and managed a team of engineers to maintain technical infrastructure. Responsible for project management and task assignment for team members.
  • Design role in development of web site software and architecture on ASP and .NET technologies - site design as well as business needs.
  • Acted as representative for company with outside vendors and consultants.

Webmaster - Programmer Analyst 
Broadbase Software - Menlo Park, CA (July 1998-September 1999) - Broadbase wrote customer relationship management software.  
Mattson Technology - Fremont, CA (November 1997-July 1998 ) - Mattson builds semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

  • Engineered, built and maintained both companies internal and external web sites and SQL data driven applications using Microsoft IIS, Visual Interdev, FrontPage, Active server pages (ASP), Visual Source Safe (VSS) and ActiveX Data Objects (ADO).
  • Configured and maintained production and development web servers on Microsoft NT 4.0 and IIS.

Product Manager - Senior Technical Support Specialist - Network Specialist 
PointCast Inc - Sunnyvale, CA (January 1996-November 1997) - PointCast was an Internet based news service. 

  • Hired as LAN Administrator to develop standards and implement network services.
  • Asked to move into lead support role with company's server product providing customer support, feedback to product development, technical resources for support specialists, and leading all training efforts both internal and externally.
  • Asked to move to technical product management role with company's server product given responsibility for product definition and release, customer feedback, group coordination, technical white papers, and continued training efforts.

NT Engineer 
Siemens-Rolm Telecommunications - Santa Clara, CA (September 1995-January 1996) - Rolm was a pioneer in PBX technology. 

  • Installation and support of multiprocessor Windows NT servers running SQL server 6.0 for enterprise scale in-house client/server sales application, documentation of policies and procedures for same.

Systems Engineer 
iXOS Software Inc - Belmont, CA (October 1994-September 1995) - iXOS specializes specialized in projects for SAP's R/3 business systems. 

  • Consulting on SAP R/3 software including system installation, software updates, system troubleshooting. Involved in certification process for SAP R/3 on Windows NT.
  • Administration of the company LAN, Windows NT servers, UNIX e-mail and Internet gateway.

PC Operations Programmer/Analyst II 
Lifeguard Inc - Milpitas, CA (May 1993-October 1994) - Lifeguard was an HMO in the silicon valley area.

  • Desktop support for 200+ PC's, server administration in Windows NT/ NetWare environment, development of standard desktop and software configuration, PC Integration with UNIX and VMS host systems, implementation of e-mail system.

Systems Support 
Pacific Software Inc - Honolulu, HI (November 1991-December 1992) - PSI sells sold and installed turnkey solutions for medical office management.

  • Installation, administration, and support of local area networks, Novell NetWare, printers, peripheral equipment, and various software. End-user client support of these systems.

  • Bachelor of Arts, Urban Planning (August 1991). Emphasis on physical design and computer planning. Did not pursue the field professionally. Preferred to move into Information Technology, leveraging planning skills.
