6/6/2009:  It's the simple things for me that shine most brightly in life. I had a great morning with my little girl. I went to the mall to return an item to a store, but was wrong about the time stores opened by an hour. The tow of us spent a few minutes walking around the mall but I didn't want to spend a whole hour there. So I scooped her up, much to her protesting actually, and found a park not too far away. We spent a few minutes on the swings and slides, then just walking around the park. On the way to the car Brooklyn asked for a snack (so cute, her little kid voice..."'nak, 'nak"). I'd parked the car on a cul-de-sac under a tree so I just pushed the seats forward and sat in the back with her. She sat on my lap eating her granola bar for about 20 minutes while we stared out the windows and watched birds and squirrels and doggies go about their business. That was the best, just sitting there holding my daughter and enjoying life. She shared the bar toward the end, putting little bits in my mouth or offering me a bite. Made me happy. Later we went back to the mall and I did my errand. We then walked toward the food court taking turns chasing each other and imitating each other walking funny. In the middle of this she was stopped in her tracks by the Disney store. She broke and ran and I found her inside with a giant stuffed "Nemo" that was literally as big as her. She grabbed it and ran for the door, falling once or twice. I had to snatch her before she made off with the item. Eventually we made it the to food court where I had my own "'nak", a sickeningly sweet cinabon, and shared a milk with her. Okay trips around the world and fancy events, but nothing beats the simple day to day, made special by sharing it with a laughing little girl that loves you.

5/27/2009:  It's Wednesday. It's summer. Perfect sunny breezy day, 74 degrees. I have the day off to take care of my little girl. We spent the morning out visiting people and driving in the car. We had a little picnic lunch in the grass. We came home to our lovely little house, cool inside sheltered from the sun. Wind chimes tinkling out on back porch. The little one so tired from the busy morning and napping soundly. How the heck do I get so lucky?

2/27/2009:  Check check check, is this thing on?

Due to spammers, this section is no longer available. Who knows why they would bother with a site like this one. Probably just a robot. I'm too busy to build in some approval mechanism for posting and so we all have to suffer. However, we can be comforted knowing that whomever wrote the thing will be first against the wall when the revolution comes. You may still view all past posts.
